A murphy bed with a sofa, for the room that is already a living room

Basement family rooms, bonus rooms over the garage, Park City condos. The room already has a couch in it, so this bed keeps the couch and puts the bed behind it. When guests come, the bed folds down over the sofa and you have a bedroom.

How it is built

The sofa frame is part of the bed cabinet. The seat is a fixed shallow bench with a real cushion, and the sofa back is attached to the bed face. As the bed comes down, the back folds flat and the bed settles over the seat. It lifts with one hand on a piston mechanism like every bed we spec. Side cabinets on either end give arm rests, storage and a place for the lamp.

What to measure

A queen sofa bed needs roughly 65 inches of wall width, an 8 foot ceiling, and about 7 feet 6 inches of clear floor in front of the sofa when the bed is down. We measure on the visit. The sizes page has the table.
