Murphy beds in Ogden, Layton and Davis County
Ogden is historic homes on the east bench with plaster walls and basements under them, newer subdivisions in Layton, Syracuse and Kaysville with finished basements and bonus rooms, and a lot of families near Hill Air Force Base who host visitors and move every few years. Different beds for each.
What tends to work where
Ogden's east bench and historic districts. Older homes, 8 foot ceilings on the main floor, lower in the basement, plaster and lath. Vertical queens on the main floor, horizontal beds downstairs, stained wood doors that match century-old trim.
Layton, Kaysville, Farmington, Syracuse. 1990s to new construction, finished basements, bonus rooms over three-car garages. Queens with side cabinets in the family room downstairs, desk beds in the office upstairs.
Bountiful and Centerville. Hillside homes with walk-out basements and in-law suites. Sofa beds and desk beds that keep a suite livable for a parent and still host.
Roy, Clearfield and near Hill AFB. Families who host often and move often. A built-in queen that stays with the house, or a freestanding cabinet chest bed that moves with you. We will tell you which fits your situation.

Questions people ask
Do you come up to Ogden and Weber County?
Yes. Ogden, North Ogden, South Ogden, Roy, Riverdale and Pleasant View, plus Layton, Kaysville, Farmington, Centerville, Bountiful, Syracuse and Clearfield in Davis County.
We are military and move every few years. Is a murphy bed a bad idea?
A murphy bed is built to the wall and stays with the house, so treat it like a built-in: it adds to the home when you sell. If you want something that moves with you, a cabinet chest bed is freestanding and we can spec one.
Older Ogden homes have odd walls. Does that matter?
It matters for where the bed goes, not whether it can. Lath and plaster, balloon framing and brick all anchor fine once we locate studs or use masonry anchors. We check on the visit.
